Pushing Envelopes is a new stationery brand on a mission to help people nurture their social health and relationships through letter writing. To celebrate International Women’s Day on 8th March, we’ve partnered with Sisterhood, an award winning social enterprise. Together, we’ve created a unique collection of greeting cards celebrating the power of friendship. The collection of 4 vibrant designs encourages folks to nurture their connections with the important people in their lives. The cards will be available on Pushing Envelopes website from 8th March. Pushing Envelopes is donating 10% of profits to support Sisterhood’s mission where every girl has access to creative opportunities to build her confidence and fulfil her potential.
Katharine Pratt, Founder of Pushing Envelopes said, “ During the first lockdown, I rediscovered the joy of letter writing. I found it a meaningful way to connect with friends whilst living by myself. It also got me thinking about the influence of digital and physical forms of communication on the quality of our friendships. After doing some research, I was shocked to discover that even before the coronavirus pandemic 1 in 5 people reported feeling often or always lonely.[1] Loneliness has also been shown to be as bad for your health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. [2] I wanted to do something to address this and so the idea for Pushing Envelopes was born.
“We couldn’t think of a better way of enabling people to reach out, nurture and build their own sisterhood than through writing. We see the power of girls coming together and supporting each other every day through our programmes and we hope these cards are a way of extending that beyond the work we do’ says Rachita & Rebecca, founders of Sisterhood.
Pen Pal Club launching April 2022
Pushing Envelopes is building a Pen Pal Club to nurture the nation’s connections. Pushing Envelopes is making it simple and safe to share handwritten letters with folks in the UK who may be feeling isolated or disconnected. The Letter Writers will share cheerful and uplifting notes with their matches, cultivating connections one letter at a time. Safety is at the heart of the Club. All letters will be managed via our Pushing Envelopes HQ Letterbox. Our Team will sense check communications and we won’t share any identifiable information between our Pen Pals. This ensures new social connections can flourish safely. Head to Pushing Envelopes’ website to join the waitlist.
